Radiant barriers are installed in attics to improve the energy efficiency of the home and reduce heating and cooling costs by preventing summer heat gain and winter heat loss. Radiant barriers work by reducing the radiant solar heat transfer from the roof to other surfaces in the attic. This prevents heat transfer to the air ducts, which warms the chilled air making your air conditioning system less efficient. It also reduces unwanted heat transference to the attic floor, which warms the ceiling and interior rooms of the house. The climate in North Texas is ideal to gain the most benefit from radiant barrier technology, because hot, sunny climates see the greatest improvement in efficiency over homes not equipped with radiant barrier.

Radiant barrier technologies when used alone have been demonstrated to lower cooling costs between 5% - 10% in climates similar to those in the Dallas - Fort Worth region. These savings are from the application of radiant barrier alone and will vary depending upon building materials, construction and home location. When combined with insulation and ventilation, the savings can be up to 30%.

We use HeatBLOC-Ultra exclusively as our radiant barrier coating. HeatBLOC-Ultra is durable and long lasting, requiring little to no maintenance from the homeowner. It cleans up with soap and water and requires no special chemicals or solvents to clean. It is also breathable, preventing moisture from being trapped in the wood substrates. HeatBLOC-Ultra is most effective radiant barrier coating currently available on the market. It has been demonstrated by Reflective Insulation Manufacturers Association International (RIMA-I) to have the lowest emissivity rating of the sixteen spray on radiant barrier products tested. Our product is one of only four spray on radiant barrier products to be classified as an Interior Radiation Control Coating Systems (IRCCS) by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and has the lowest thermal emittance rating (.195) which means the highest thermal reflectance (up to 89%) of the products tested. Unlike foil radiant barriers, our radiant barrier coating will not interfere with cellular, wireless, or antenna signals.
